How exercise can help to keep your Liver Healthy?

The liver is your largest internal organ, it has a number of vital functions. There are 5 major functions of the liver.

  1. Digestion
  2. Filtration
  3. Metabolism & Detoxification
  4. Protein Synthesis
  5. Storage of Vitamins & Minerals

The worldwide fact is that exercise works wonders for health & wellbeing. Exercise helps to make you feel happy, and stress-free, increases your energy levels, helps in weight loss & it nourishes muscles & bones. A sedentary lifestyle affects most of your liver functions. Moving your body in any way every day in any form of exercise is the key to keeping your liver healthy.

How does Exercise affect Liver Health?

Obesity causes fat molecule deposition in the liver cells, resulting in inflammation and damage to the surrounding tissue. Weight loss has an immensely positive impact on liver health. The more weight you lose, the healthier your liver becomes. With a regular exercise routine, you can maintain a healthy weight and keep your liver healthy.

In normal conditions all types of exercises are helpful to support a healthy liver for example dancing thrice a week, Swimming once a week, Walking or Jogging every day. If you are obese or have any liver conditions like fatty liver or liver-related health issues of digestion or metabolism, a particular type of exercise is recommended.

The combination of resistance training and aerobics exercises several times a week delivers the best results for your liver. Another type of workout that can help is High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), which is widely known to support a healthy liver.

NOTE: Performing HIIT means you will only need to spend 30 mins for your workout. It’s effective & efficient.

Resistance training using free weights – dumbbells, kettlebells & barbells, using medicine balls, or by using machines also contributes to effective fat loss from liver cells and reduces blood cholesterol levels.

Are only Exercises enough for a healthy liver?

No, Only exercise can not help to have a healthy liver. You need to have the proper nutrition to combat any liver disease or to maintain good liver health.
