How much Alcohol Consumption is OK?

As we all know alcohol is not good for health but on the other hand it is also used in medicinal purposes, well-known use in cough syrups. So , according to this consideration a little amount of alcohol in certain conditions is good. So let’s update our knowledge by knowing about new research.

New research shows that alcohol may help to clean the mind. The new study shows that low levels of alcohol consumption tamp down inflammation and helps the brain clear away toxins, including those associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

“Prolonged intake of excessive amounts of ethanol is known to have adverse effects on the central nervous system.” said Maiken Nederguard, M.D., D.M.Sc., co-director of the Centre for Translational Neuromedicine at the university of Rochester Medical Centre (URMC) and lead author of the study.

This study shows for the first time that low doses of alcohol are potentially beneficial to brain health, It improves brain’s ability to remove waste.

“Studies have shown that low-to-moderate alcohol intake is associated with a lesser risk of dementia, while heavy drinking for many years confers an increased risk of cognitive decline. Low doses of alcohol appear to improve overall brain health.”
